JONATHAN MARGOLIS

Jon Margolis has acted as Special Master, mediator and/or arbitrator in more than 650 cases. He has helped the parties reach settlements in more than 98% of these matters. Jon has been appointed Special Master and conducted settlement conferences and mediations for the Alameda County Superior Court, Butte County Superior Court, Contra Costa County Superior Court, Fresno County Superior Court, Kern County Superior Court, Los Angeles County Superior Court, Marin County Superior Court, Merced County Superior Court, Monterey County Superior Court, Napa County Superior Court, Orange County Superior Court, Placer County Superior Court, Sacramento County Superior Court, San Benito County Superior Court, San Francisco County Superior Court, San Joaquin County Superior Court, San Luis Obispo County Superior Court, San Mateo County Superior Court, Santa Clara County Superior Court, Santa Cruz County Superior Court, Sonoma County Superior Court, Stanislaus County Superior Court, Tehema County Superior Court, and Tulare County Superior Court.

For more than 27 years, Jon has specialized in all aspects of dispute resolution and civil litigation, including construction litigation, real estate, business litigation, insurance, bad faith, personal injury, and product liability matters. He has lectured throughout the country on various topics in dispute resolution, construction litigation, civil litigation and California law, and has been a panelist for Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) since 1998.

Jon has served as an expert in legal malpractice and bad faith claims arising out of underlying civil litigation and construction litigation disputes. He has tried a number of jury and court trials to verdict, including construction, land use, product liability, business dispute, and personal injury matters, and has successfully argued cases in the California Supreme Court, First and Sixth District Courts of Appeal, as well as in the Ninth Circuit.

Jon graduated with honors from Boston College Law School in 1981, and is admitted to practice before all courts of the State of California, as well as the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has received the highest rating from Martindale-Hubbell, “A-V”. Jon has also been selected as a “Northern California Super Lawyer”, and is a recognized member of The California Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.
